Welfare society of Visually Handicapped students of University of Sri Jayawardenapura organize a musical show Vidujaya Gee Sara 4, on 10th March 2010, from 6.00 p.m - 10.00 p.m at Bandaranayka Hall, University of Sri Jayawardenapura.
Aims of the this show:
* Perform their hidden talents to the society
* Devolop their talents and skills
* Acively participate in extra curricular acivites in the university
* Change the negative attitudes toward them in the society, into positieve.

Professor Sunil Ariyaratne’s publication on Annals of 51 years of University of Sri Jayewardenepura and Vidyodaya is launched on 18 February 2010.
This work includes about 350 historic and rare photographs and printed on 12”x12”art paper. The publication is confined to a limited number of copies. As such the publisher cordially invites the Alumni members of the University, who hold responsible positions in various seats of learnings in the country, Educationists attached to schools, State and Private sector and social organizations to purchase advanced copies to be preserved in their respective libraries.

Fiftieth Anniversary academic conference is one of the events planned by the University of Sri Jayewardenepura for the celebration of its Golden Jubilee. We celebrate the Golden Jubilee of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura in the year 2009. We have organized number of very important events to commemorate this Jubilee. 50th Anniversary Academic Conference (December 10-12) is the most important academic and research Endeavour which indicates the potential and contribution of our academic community.
The theme of the conference Buddhism, Science and Development is highly relevant to the University since it was started in 1873 as a leading Buddhist educational institute Vidyodaya Pirivena. This Pirivena was upgraded to a University in 1959 as the Vidyodaya University to protect, develop and expand the Sinhala Language and Buddhist Culture all over the world.
During these 5 decades, our academic community has contributed to the national development by way of their research and teaching. Different Departments and Faculties are conducting their own research fora annually. On the whole, this conference is unique because it gives all the academics an opportunity to participate in presenting their research activities. Furthermore, foreign and outside experts also present their highly recognized research activities.

Lichen diversity is remarkably rich and diverse in four forest types with a unimodal pattern of species distribution with reference to altitude
These findings provide a better understanding of the community structure of lichens in different forest types in Knuckles range, which would assist in forest management and conservation of biodiversity
Ovitrap surveys within the University premises of Sri Jayewardenepura for Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus and for seasonal shift in relative abundance of these mosquito species.

Live webcast of Gee Pedura Musical Show was finished on 7 december 2009 @ 7 pm - 10.30. This was held in front of Sri Sumangala Mandiraya, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Nugegoda. Students, Academic and supporting staff sang songs with popular artist Priya Suriyasena, organized by Department of Sinhala and Mass Communication.
