In honor of the scholars of local academia, the Research Council of the university will be hosting the University of Sri Jayewardenepura Research Awards ceremony on 29th September 2016 at 6pm at the Golden Rose Hotel, Boralesgamuwa.
The Awards Ceremony is held for the second consecutive time and 153 academics of all the six faculties are to be presented awards.
Vice Chancellor is the guest of honourand the academics representing the six faculties including the newly established Faculty of Technology and the Faculty of Engineering will be present at the ceremony.
Award Categories
The research award system is monitored under ten main categories and three extra categorieshave been added up for 2016.

Full articles published in non –refereed journals
Full articles published in refereed journals (non-indexed journals)
Full articles published in refereed journals (indexed journals)

The three new categories are,
Scientists/Academics who appeared in a webometric international database (h-index 10 or more)
Emeritus professors of the university (h-index 10 or more)
Scientists/Academics who received research grant from external sources
One researcher having highest citations for the year and one researcher having the highest h-index were selected to be awarded last year, but the council has increased the number up to three academics from each category to be awarded in the year 2016.
The Early Career Research award will be presented to a scholar below the age of 40 and the selection for the Vice Chancellor’s award will be done by an external panel appointed by the research council following the CVCD guidelines.
Thus, the University of Sri Jayewardenepura will be honouring the intelligentsia of the country in glamour and pride.
