Meeting with European Times Representative

Ven. Prof. Bellanwila Wimalarathana Thero, Chancellor and Prof. Sampath Amaratunge, Vice-Chancellor had a meeting with Mr. S. Nicholas, Representation of the European times  on 3rd July 2017 at the Office of the Vice-Chancellor.

The Vice-Chancellor stated that the University is the largest state University in the country in student population wise and situated in Colombo district close to Colombo city.  He also stated that, we are in the process of converting the mere undergraduate  teaching learning system to  research  system and within the last year we have established 15 Research Centres such as Dengue Research, Kidney Research, Cancer Research, Water Research, etc.  Almost all of these Research Centres are established according to the to national requirement.  The University has a strong academic staff with 200 PhD holders.  Many Memoranda of Understanding with Universities and other Higher Educational Institutions of the developed countries have been entered into.  Early next year 15 young academic will be provided with training at Monash University, Australia and student exchange programme  for 40 students will be materialized with the Melbourne University.

At the meeting the European Times representative  promised to help the University to establish collaborative programmes with the higher educational institutions in Europe and other developed countries especially in improving research work of the University by way of obtaining the knowledge on modern technology, updated machinery  and  research laboratories.
