Prof. Heamanthi Ranasinghe, Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies, University of Sri Jayewardenepyra shared her views on “Women’s Perspective on Polythene Ban in Sri Lanka” in Sri Lanka with “Silumina” news paper on 30th July 2017.  According to her without the support of the Sri Lankan women our country won’t be able to make this success.

Sri Lankan government has taken measures to ban the use of polythene from 1st September 2017 to minimize impact of disposing such items on the environment. At present majority of the people use lunch sheets, sili sili bags and low-thickness polythene materials for their daily needs. Many people work in offices and other places would find it difficult to bring their lunch from home when the use of lunch sheet is banned in a few weeks. According to Prof. Hemanthi Sri Lankan women should prepare from now on by finding suitable alternatives.
