The symposium on Sri Lankan natural products that foster healthy brain-aging was held on 17th December as part of a 7 day International Neuroscience Workshop conducted from the 14th to 20th of December at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. The symposium saw the participation of seven internationally reputed professors from Australia, USA, India and China who shared their expertise with patents in the field of Natural Products. The Chief Guest of the event was the Honorable Minister of Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine, Dr. Rajitha Senarathne and the Honorable Minister of Primary Industries, Daya Gamage participated as the Guest of Honor. One of the main goals of the symposium was to bridge industry and academia in private-public partnerships with international collaborations for research and development in enhancing value addition through innovative product development. These developments were envisaged to greatly strengthen the global marketability of these products as health beverages. This was an exceptional opportunity for natural products industry (i.e. tea, cinnamon and other native herbs) to enter competitive global markets with a fresh boost for Sri Lankan enterprise to reach beyond the limits of local networks, and reach international delegations of high scientific acclaim – entering competitive global markets with a stride of innovation.
