UCAS Criteria - Master Program



  • FIND AN ELIGIBLE HOST SUPERVISOR AFFILIATED WITH UCAS UNIVERSITIES, SCHOOLS OR CAS INSTITUTES. See here for a list of eligible centres and supervisors.

    • Once you have found the host supervisor, you must contact him/her via e-mail and inform that you wish to apply for the joint UCAS-USJP Master Program. Please send him/her an explanatory e-mail together with your CV and research proposal.


  • The a Joint Spilt two (2) year Bilateral Double M.Sc. Degree program would be implemented, wherein, one degree would be awarded by the UCAS and the second degree to be awarded by The University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka.

    • A group of students would conduct a certain component of their study for a period of 18 - 21 months in Sri Lanka and the other components at University of Chinese Academy of Sciences for a period of 3 - 6 months.

    • The running cost of each component will be borne by the respective institute in which each component is to be conducted.

    • UCAS or USJP will award the students who successfully complete and meet all requirements of the program degrees respectively according to their respective rules and procedures.


  • Students demonstrating high levels of academic excellence during the Masters Degree Program will be selected to pursue a joint PhD degree program between UCAS and USJP.


  • The applicant must be under 40 years old, has obtained or is working in the last year toward a Bachelor degree of China, or the foreign equivalent of such a degree. In the latter case, admission will be contingent on the final receipt of such a degree.


  • All students under the said fellowship will be required to follow the rules and regulations of University of Chinese Academy of Sciences and the conferring of degree is subjected to the students' successful meeting of the academic requirements and standards set by University of Chinese Academy of Sciences and University of Sri Jayewardenepura.
