The Twenty-Ninth International Forestry and Environment Symposium, the region’s longest-running environmental conference, will take place on January 17-18, 2025, at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka. With the theme “A Multi-Sectoral Approach to a Sustainable Future,” the symposium continues its nearly three-decade legacy of advancing environmental scholarship.
Key highlights include:
- Chief Guest: Senior Professor M. M. Pathmalal, Vice-Chancellor, University of Sri Jayewardenepura.
- Guest of Honor: Mr. K. R. Uduwawala, Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Sri Lanka.
- Keynote Address: Professor Naohiro Goto, Toyo University, Japan.
- A special video presentation by Professor Hemanthi Ranasinghe, a founding member of the symposium.
This year’s event features 205 research abstracts, including international contributions from Japan, India, Malaysia, and Slovakia. Sessions will cover diverse topics like Climate Change, Biodiversity, Green Technology, and Environmental Economics, alongside emerging themes like Sustainable Tourism and Citizen Science through the Young Environment Symposium.
