The 1st Jayewardenepura Computing Symposium (JCoS) 2026 will take place on 20th May 2026 at the Faculty of Computing, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, under the theme “Computing the Future: Innovation, Intelligence, and Impact.” Organized with technical co-sponsorship and bringing together academics, researchers, and industry professionals, JCoS 2026 will feature keynote addresses by Mr. Heshan Karunaratne, President of the Computer Society of Sri Lanka, and Prof. Saman Muthukumarana from the University of Manitoba. The symposium will cover key tracks including Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, and Computing, alongside pre-symposium workshops on 19th May 2026 focusing on prompt engineering and Bayesian computing. JCoS 2026 promises to be a dynamic platform for knowledge sharing, innovation, and collaboration in the computing domain.

Workshop 01
Time: 9:00 a.m – 12:00 noon
Resource Person: Dr. W. M. K. S. Ilmini, Senior Lecturer, Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Applied Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura.
Topic: Hands-on Prompt Engineering for Effective Use of Large Language Models.

Workshop 02
Time: 1:00 p.m – 5:00 p.m.
Resource Person: Prof. Saman Muthukumarana, Head, Department of Statistics, University of Manitoba, Canada.
Topic: Bayesian Computing and Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) Algorithms.
