Back to Nature-නැවතත් සොබාදහමට

Back to Nature project was launched to promote healthy eating, increase movements, promote resting and spirituality among the young generation and to promote Environmental Conservation. This program was conducted in collaboration with Forestry and Environment Society of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura and with Young Biologists’ Association, Sri Lanka.

Launching of the first programme of this Back to Nature project was held on 28 January 2019 at Botanical Gardens in front of the Faculty of Applied Sciences, USJP.

Four areas considered in this program are;

  1. කමු Eat – Eat unprocessed raw food.
  2. යමු Move – Promote movement rich lifestyle replacing modern sedentary and sitting lifestyle.
  3. ඉමු Rest – Rest, Sleep, Meditate, Spirituality. Making Connections. Getting rid of screen life.
  4. සුරකිමු Conserve Nature

Prof. Sampath Amaratunge, Vice Chancellor of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Prof. Sudantha Liyanage; Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences, Mr. Gnanasiri Brito, Registrar of the University, heads of departments and academic members participated in this programme.

An introductory speech was delivered by Prof. Hiran Amarasekara; founder of the Back to Nature programme and Professor at the Department of Forestry and Environmental Sciences.

Undergraduate students of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura and members of the Young Biologists’ Association, Sri Lanka also participated in the programme which included short drama series and performance of traditional exercises that are included in Angampora; traditional martial art.
