The University of Sri Jayewardenepura proudly hosted its Research Awards Ceremony 2024/2025, organized by the Research Council, on 27th March 2026 at the Golden Rose Hotel.
The event was a grand celebration of research excellence, honoring outstanding scholarly contributions across the university. The ceremony was graced by Vice-Chancellor Senior Prof. Pathmalal Manage, along with Research Council Co-chairs Prof. Pradeepa Jayawardane and Prof. Roshan Ajward, as well as University Council members, former Vice-Chancellors, Deans, Research Council members, academic and administrative staff, reflecting strong institutional support for research.
A total of 383 awardees were honored under 11 award categories, including the prestigious:
- Vice-Chancellor’s Award – Prof. Imalka Munaweera
- Young Researcher Award 2024 – Dr. Kasun Thambugala
- Young Researcher Award 2025 – Dr. Saranga Diyabalanage
In total, 881 awards were distributed among the faculties, reflecting the breadth and impact of research conducted at USJ.
A key highlight was the launch of “Vidyodaya Vision – Edition III,” together with the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Research Council, marking a decade of success.
The ceremony brought together distinguished academics, researchers, and university leadership in a vibrant gathering that underscored the University of Sri Jayewardenepura’s continued commitment to advancing impactful research.
