Two Solutions Built Using Motion Capture Technology by Centre of Robotics and Intelligent Systems

The Innovation Centre of Robotics and Intelligent Systems (RIS) was featured on Rupavahini yet another time in the Tuesday Knowledge 1st Program, on the 20th of August 2019. Asela Wijesinghe and Sajini Senaratna who are final year students from Department of Computer Science attended the program. Two of the very interesting research work based on Motion Capture Technology, conducted by the undergraduates of the Department of Computer Science were featured during the program.

Dancing coach is a companion for anyone who like to dance and correct whenever they do it wrong. It will provide you with dancing lessons from professionals and measure the accuracy of your dance too with the help of motion caputure technology. Asela Wijesinghe, Eranga Kulasinghe and Vimukthi Deshan are creators of this amazing work. Gym Coach is another project by Asela Wijesinghe which uses more advanced technology compared to the previous project Dancing Coach. Gym Coach helps the user to measure and track the exercices and improve the quality of it by detecting the mistakes and providing realtime feedback. This project was built using concepts such as reinforcement learning, pose estimation and cloud technologies.
