Establishment and intake of first batch, Faculty of Urban and Aquatic Bioresources, USJ

The Faculty of Urban and Aquatic Bioresources (FUAB), University of Sri Jayewardenepura is looking forward to welcoming the first batch of students to the Faculty, for the academic year 2020/2021. The Faculty of Urban and Aquatic Bioresources of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura was established by order of Gazette Extraordinary No. 2267/35 on 17th February 2022.

Update (4 April 2020): Considering the prevailing situation in the county and without any further delays, the Faculty has decided to commence the Orientation Program online, starting from Wednesday 6th April 2022. The zoom link to join the Orientation Program will be emailed to the students in due course. 

The inauguration ceremony of the orientation program will be held on 04th April 2022 at Sri Sumangala Auditorium, USJ, from 09.00 am onwards. The orientation program is designed to create awareness of academic procedures at FUAB. New students will also be introduced to university support services such as, Library, Career Guidance, Student Counseling, Sports, Medical and Student Services.

The FUAB at University of Sri Jayewardenepura hopes to cater to the needs that will arise in the bioeconomy by creating graduates who will be capable of facing challenges presented by evolving environmental transformations, through sustainable utilization of urban and aquatic bioresources .

With this Faculty, the University comprises a total of ten Faculties. Snr. Prof. Pradeep Jayaweera, Acting Dean, FUAB, and the faculty staff members extend sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to making this a reality, especially, former Vice Chancellor, USJ, and the present Chairman, University Grants Commission, Snr. Prof. Sampath Amarathunge, Vice Chancellor, USJ, Snr.Prof. Sudantha Liyanage, Emeritus Prof. Gamini Senanayake, Lead Consultant for the FUAB, and other distinguished academics and officials for facilitating the establishment of this Faculty.
