Introducing Two Social Robotics Platform Center for Robotics & Intelligent Systems Featured by Rupavahini

The Innovation Centre of Robotics and Intelligent Systems (RIS) was featured on Rupavahini yet another time in the Tuesday Knowledge 1st Program, on the 6th of August 2019. Dr. Ravindra De Silva, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Computer Science was invited to the program to share his knowledge and expertise in the field of Social Robotics. Two of the very interesting research work conducted by the undergraduates of the Department of Computer Science were also featured during the program.

AuDimo is a music companion robot that can enhance the engagement of the audience by selecting the perfect song to the current situation based on the behavior of the audience. Kushan Hansika and Lakindu Nanayakkara are the creators of this outstanding work which is based on Social Robotics and Human Robotic Interaction.  The robot Vidujaya, which is teamwork of Nipuna Vimukthi and Didula Egodage is employed to capture natural photographs of children, by interacting with them. This robot is capable of making long connections between children by changing the interactive pattern by considering the child’s activities, reaction, and behaviors in real-time.
