Senior Professor Pradeep Jayaweera was officially reappointed by the Faculty Board to serve his second term as the Dean of the Faculty of Urban and Aquatic Bioresources of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, effective from July 6, 2025.
Prof. Jayaweera is a renowned academic in the field of chemistry, holding a BSc from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura (1991) and a PhD from Queen’s University of Belfast, Northern Ireland (1996). He has held prestigious international research positions, including as a Visiting Scholar at the University of Auckland (New Zealand), Postdoctoral Scholar at the Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Institute, University of Iowa (USA), and Research Fellow under the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) at Shizuoka University (Japan).
Currently serving as a Professor of Chemistry at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, he is also a member of the American Nano Society. His research expertise includes photochemistry, Raman spectroscopy, nanoscience, metal colloids, reaction kinetics, corrosion science, and dye-sensitized solar cells—making significant contributions to alternative energy and advanced materials.
