The newly established Institute of Allergology and Immunology (IAI) at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura successfully conducted its inaugural Research Workshop on 22nd July 2025, followed by a series of academic meetings on 23rd July.
The event was organized under the guidance of Professor Chandima Jeewandara, Coordinator of IAI, and Senior Professor Neelika Malavige, Head of the Department of Immunology and Molecular Medicine, with the patronage of Senior Professor M. M. Pathmalal, Vice Chancellor of the University.
This special workshop featured guest presentations by renowned researchers from Sungkyunkwan University, Republic of Korea, including Professor Tae Jin Kim, Professor Lee Ki Young, and Professor Kim Kyeong Kyu. Presentations from IAI were delivered by Dr. Dinuka Ariyaratne, Ms. Inoka Sepali Aberathne, and Mr. Heshan Kuruppu.
The delegation visited the newly constructed IAI building which is nearing completion, and productive meetings with MSc students, Human Biology undergraduates, procurement representatives, and university staff. This event marks a significant step forward in strengthening international research collaborations and promoting excellence in Immunology in Sri Lanka.
