The University of Sri Jayewardenepura recently celebrated literary creativity and academic excellence with the “විද්යෝදය” Literary Awards Ceremony 2026, held on 2 September 2026, recognizing outstanding contributions to the field of literature and scholarly publishing.
The awards were presented by the Vice-Chancellor of the University Senior Professor Upul Subasinghe and the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Senior Professor Shirantha Heenkenda, in the presence of distinguished guests, academics, writers and members of the university community.
A number of awards were presented across several categories, recognizing excellence in areas including poetry, fiction, scholarly and academic writing, and other forms of literary expression. The award-winning works reflected the diversity, creativity and intellectual depth of contemporary Sri Lankan writing.
