USJ Engineering Faculty signed MOU with CRD of Ministry of Defense

 

The University of Sri Jayewardenepura signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for Research and Development Collaboration with the Centre for Defense Research and Development (CRD) under Ministry of Defense (MoD). The main objective of this MoU is to collaboratively develop Maritime surveillance systems using Machine Learning and Image Analysis for the Country. CRD and Faculty of Engineering (Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering – USJP) will bring together their areas of expertise and knowledge for collaborative research and development.

Snr. Prof. Sudantha Liyanage – Vice Chancellor, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Mr. Anuruddha Welivita – Registrar, Dr. Chaminda Konthesingha – Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Akila Mike Subasinghe – Former Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Chamitha de Alwis – Head, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Dr. Randima Dinalankara – Head, Department of Computer Engineering were in attendance from the University. Major General (Rtd) KRP Rowel – The Director-General, CDRD, Group Captain KSC Rodrigo – Chief-Controller, Commander RMGC Navarathne – Chief Coordinator Radio & Electronics Wing, Lieutenant Cornel NABSM Nissanka – Chief Coordinator Explosive Wing were present at this occasion representing the CRD.
