USJ Launches TESS with Erasmus: Advancing Sustainable Development Training in Sri Lanka

The Department of Accounting, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, in collaboration with the University of South-Eastern Norway and the University of Vocational Technology, hosted a highly impactful Training Workshop on Waste Management and Circular Economy. This event, conducted as part of the TESS (Techno-Economic-Societal Sustainable Development Training in Sri Lanka) Project, took place at the Galle Face Hotel from March 27 to 31, 2023. Active participation was observed from TESS project members representing the University of Ruhuna and the University of Vocational Technology.

The opening ceremony was graced by esteemed personalities, including the Prof. Upul Subasinghe Vice-Chancellor of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Prof. Chamara Kuruppu, the Dean of the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, the Primary Coordinator of TESS from the University of South-Eastern Norway, the Program Manager of the Cooperation section at the Delegation of the European Union to Sri Lanka and the Maldives, and notable academics; Prof. Anil Fernando and Prof. Kennedy Gunawardana.

University of Sri Jayewardenepura is a part of the international consortium, TESS, aimed at promoting Techno-Economic-Societal Sustainable Development Training in Sri Lanka. Co-financed by the European Union’s Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education program, this consortium includes esteemed institutions such as the University of South-Eastern Norway, University of Nova De Lisboa, University of Essex, and five leading Sri Lankan universities including University of Sri Jayewardenepura, University of Vocational Technology, University of Moratuwa, University of Jaffna, and the University of Ruhuna and Janthakshan GTE, a distinguished not-for-profit organization.
