Anupa Liyanagunawardana won silver in 100m at Junior Nationals 2023

Anupa Liyanagunawardana, a second-year student of the Faculty of Management and Commerce at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, has made the university proud by winning a silver medal in the men’s 100m event at the Junior Nationals Athletics Championship 2023. Anupa demonstrated his remarkable talent and perseverance in the prestigious competition.

The championship, which took place at Mahinda Rajapaksa Stadium Diyagama from May 7 to 10, was attended by more than 2265 junior athletes from all over the country. The event was of great importance as it was a trial for the upcoming Youth Commonwealth Games.

The championship comprised various age groups, including under 16, under 18, under 20, and under 23. The championship gave junior athletes a chance to showcase their skills and potential after facing many difficulties due to the global pandemic in the past two years.

Anupa’s success is a result of his dedication, hard work, and passion for his sport. He has brought honor to the University of Sri Jayewardenepura and has inspired other aspiring athletes in the university community.
