Donate for “Donate Happiness” to provide medicine to children at Apeksha Hospital

The Sri Jayewardenepura University Professional Skills Development Association is hosting the “Donate Happiness” mission on February 14, 2023 at the Maharagama Apeksha Hospital to provide essential medicines to children with cancer, as well as to demonstrate the strength of the community in supporting the national health mission.

According to the latest data, there are an average of 828 new childhood cancer cases reported in Sri Lanka each year, with leukemia and bone cancer being the most common conditions among male children, and leukemia, germ cell tumors, and central nervous system and brain tumors being the most commonly reported conditions among female children.

The Donate Happiness project has a long history of success in helping those in need. In 2015, essential medicines were collected and donated to the National Cancer Institute through this project, and in 2016, essential medicines were donated to children with cancer and music programs were organized for their mental health.

The current economic situation presents a significant challenge to the national health mission, but the Professional Skills Development Association is determined to make a difference in the lives of these children. With the support of the community, they hope to provide essential medicines and bring a smile to the faces of these children as they face their cancer diagnoses.

It is a time to come together as a community and support these children in their time of need. Every donation, no matter how small, can make a huge difference. The Professional Skills Development Association invites everyone to be a part of this noble cause by directing their financial donations to the Donate Happiness project. The public is encouraged to support this worthy cause by making financial donations to the Career Skills Development Society’s account at People’s Bank (Account Number: 097200160003340). Let’s join hands and donate happiness to these children and show them that they are not alone in their fight against cancer.
