Fangshan Stone Inscription and Mahayana Tripitaka donated to university library

The Life Care Education Society & Buddhist Association of China/Taiwan/Malaysia presented Mahayana Tripitaka to three significant institutions, namely, Sri Jayawardenepura University, Pali & Buddhist University and the Bellanwila Temple , on 6th November. The presentation took place at the Bellanwila Temple of which the chief guest was the Minister of Justice & Buddha Sasana Hon.Wijeydasa Rajapakse. Ven.Prof. Bellanwila Wimalaratana Thero- Deputy Incumbent of Bellanwila Rajamaha Viharaya and Chancellor, USJP,  Prof.Sampath Amaratunge – Vice Chancellor, USJP, Ven.Prof.Gallelle Sumanasiri Thero – Vice Chancellor, Pali & Buddhist University,  Ven.Guo Jiang  thero – Director , Fangshan Buddhist Stone Promotion Committee, Ven. Chang Chi thero – Religious Advisor ,Life Care Education Society and other distinguished guests also witnessed the occasion.

The Fangshan Stone Inscription and Mahayana Tripitaka, are national treasures of China and the move to present them to Sri Lanka will strengthen the relations between China and Sri Lanka. Although currently there are not many Chinese scholars  in Sri Lanka, it is expected the developing liaison between the two countries, and the soaring popularity in learning Chinese language will lead to the frequent use of these volumes.

The donation was coordinated by Ven.Guo Jiang, Ven.Chang Chi and Mr.Prasanna Hennayake.
