ICBM Business Forum and Conference from 11 December

Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura has organized the 11th International Conference on Business Management, to be held from 11 – 12 December 2014 under the theme of “‘Driving Productivity through Innovation: From Thought to Practice’.

The International Conference on Business Management is the main annual academic event organized by the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura which is a platform for local and foreign academics to share the insights of their research findings.

Further, the ICBM has focused on “Business Management” as the university has identified the role of business sector in ensuring the development of society.

The Business Forum will be unveiled on December 11,2014 at the Hotel Galadari, and the International Conference will commence on December 12 at the same venue.

The ICBM 2014 is organized for the eleventh consecutive year and is bound to be a fruitful event as its predecessors. The theme, ‘Driving Productivity through Innovation: From Thought to Practice’, will be discussed under twelve main topics, namely Creative Business Management Practices, Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management, Sustainable Development and Social Responsibility, Managing IT for Innovation and Value Creation, Managerial Economics and Business Development, Productivity through Marketing Innovations, Accounting and Finance for Sustainable Development, People Management Systems and Practices’ Managing Operations for Improving Productivity, Commercial Law for Innovation, Real Estate Management for Business Productivity and Innovation in Education Management.

The 11th ICBM forum will be graced by the Professor Mark Dodgson and Mrs Beth Watson. Professor Mark Dodgson is the Director in Technology and Innovation Management Division, in the University of Queensland Business School, Australia. He has authored several academic articles published by Oxford University Press, and has been an advisor and consultant to the European Commission and to government agencies in the US, Japan, UK, Germany, Spain, Thailand, Taiwan, Korea and South Africa, and to numerous organizations in Australia.In 2007 he was awarded the Eureka Prize for Leadership in Business Innovation.

ICBM Business Forum is scheduled to be held at the Galadari Hotel on 11th December 2014 from 4.30 p. m to 7.30 p.m. The Business Forum is an important event that has progressed in parallel with the ICBM over the years, by enriching the link between the academic and business community. In accordance to the ICBM theme “Driving productivity through innovation” the business forum provides a platform to share the knowledge, networks and experiences among the business community and academia on sustainable innovative applications and strategies currently employed in managing businesses.Thus, this forum facilitates an opportunity to open a dialogue between the academia and industry practitioners to fostering partnerships in forming and maintaining innovative business practices with a view to enhance productivity through innovations. The committee intends to invite veteran innovators from the Sri Lankan business community, local and international academics to take part in this event.
