IEEE University of Sri Jayewardenepura Student Branch becomes one of the prestigious Student Branches to win the IEEE Regional Exemplary Student Branch Award at the IEEE Student Awards 2022. It is the very first time the IEEE University of Sri Jayewardenepura Student Branch wins one of the major awards at the IEEE Student Awards. IEEE Regional Exemplary Student Branch Award is one of the major awards in IEEE Student Awards by MGA Student Activities Committee (SAC). The purpose of this award is to provide public recognition of exemplary IEEE Student Branch operations. Awards will be presented to those Student Branches that are found to be operated in a manner consistent with the goals of IEEE.

IEEE University of Sri Jayewardenepura Student Branch is one of the leading Student Branches in IEEE Sri Lanka Section bearing the vision to be universally recognized for the contribution of technology and its highest standards of professionalism towards the advancement of the global technical community and to technical professionals all around.Student branches offer numerous educational, technical, and professional advantages to IEEE Student members through special projects, activities, meetings, tours, and field trips. However, these activities and advantages aren’t done without the effort, labor, and diligence of volunteers. IEEE has created several Student Branch Awards to recognize and reward the efforts of these tireless individuals and teams.
As the new Executive Committee was assigned in 2021, IEEE University of Sri Jayewardenepura Student Branch showed a huge growth in members and volunteers as there were various online campaigns.
