Alumni Association of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura (AAUSJP) has always been an arm of encouragement to the university extending its gracious support and goodwill. Showcasing this very same spirit, the alumni took the initiative of sponsoring both the Rugger and Cricket teams of the university who are to face a range of tournaments in the near future with cash donations. This particular selection was based on their previous performance at the Inter-University Championship wherein Japura emerged champions.
This cash donation was granted yesterday, 17th March 2017 with the presence of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sampath Amaratunge, Prof. Abeyratne Bandara, Secretary of the Alumni Association, Mr.Ranjith Iddamalgoda National Organizer and members of the Alumni together with the University officials representing the Department of Physical Education and the Sports Council.
The Alumni made this an opportunity to also inform us that they were looking forward to support any other initiative of the university which looks promising.
