SCImago uses several metrics to assess journal quality on the grounds of reputation and influence. Using the Google PageRank™ algorithm, SJR retrieves information for various indicators from the Scopus database. It provides an ‘open access’ web-based environment to view the rank/performance of journals and countries in various scientific domains.
SCImago uses the Scopus as its database. Scopus is widely known as the ‘largest abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature: Scientific journals, books and conference proceedings. Scopus is used by over 3000 entities which includes academic, corporate and government institutions. It is also one of the main institutions that support the research intelligence Portfolio.
