Prof. Sudantha Liyanage re-electected as the Dean, Faculty of Applied Sciences

The election of a new Dean to the Faculty of Applied Sciences was held today at the Faculty Meeting Chaired by the Vice Chancellor. Prof. Sudantha Liyanage was re-elected as the new Dean for the 3rd consecutive period. He is the first Alumni Dean of the Faculty, and he has made great contribution to uplift the standards of the Faculty: Infrastructure development with the renovation of all Lecture halls and Departmental Buildings, Construction of New Faculty Complex. During his term several new subjects have been introduced to the faculty: Biology, Information and Communication Technology, and Sports Science and Management.

Prof. Sudantha obtained his B.Sc. Special degree in Chemistry at University of Sri Jayewardenepura and obtained his Ph.D. in Chemistry, at University of Wales, Cardiff,UK. He was also a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at University of Wales, Cardiff and University of Ibaraki, Japan. He was the Chairman of the Royal Society of Chemistry Sri Lanka Section during 2013- 2014. He told Japura Media that his ultimate goal is to make the Faculty as the best Faculty of Science in the Sri Lankan university system.
