One of the flagship events in the academic calendar of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, “The Research Awards – 2019,” prestigious annual event which was previously scheduled to be held at the Faculty of Technology was cancelled due to the COVID 19 pandemic situation in the country.
However the awardees were awarded by the Vice-Chancellor, Snr. Prof. Sudantha Liyanage at the New Boardroom of the Administrative Complex of the University on 28th April 2021. Considering the COVID 19 pandemic situation prevailing, the awardees were not invited to the Awards ceremony; and to symbolize the event, the Early Career Researcher Award for the Year 2019 was awarded to Dr. Oshan Wedage by the Vice-Chancellor, Snr. Prof. Sudantha Liyanage in the presence of the Co-Chair, Snr. Prof. M. M. Pathmalal.
At this annual flagship event, awards were presented under nine award categories. Accordingly, many researchers of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura were honored for their contribution in publishing research at national/international conferences; peer-reviewed/indexed journals; achieving the highest h-index at faculty levels; academics who supervised and completed research degrees of MPhil/Ph.D. within the stipulated time under University grants, and researchers with more than five SCI journal publications for the year 2019 were honored for their yeoman contribution towards research.
