The SLESA “Future Founder” Young Entrepreneurship Bootcamp 2024 concluded with students from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura earning second place in the university category. The team presented an automatic system designed for the early detection of Non-Proliferative Diabetic Retinopathy (NPDR). This innovative product contributed to their final score of 87.3, placing them just behind Pegasus, the first-place team with 90.1 points.
The competition assessed participants across several criteria, including product-market fit, business model, MVP implementation, customer engagement, and presentation skills. The USJ students excelled in areas such as MVP implementation and the pitch deck, which played a significant role in their ranking. The event highlighted the creative potential of young entrepreneurs in Sri Lanka, emphasizing the importance of innovation in addressing real-world challenges.
