Seminar on Environment Management by Lakeland College and USJP

A collaborative seminar on Environmental Management – best practices from North and South conducted by the Department of Environmental Sciences, Lakeland College, Canada and the Department of Forestry and Environmental Sciences & Faculty of Graduate Studies, University of Sri Jayewardenepura was held on 23rd February 2018 at the Seminar Room of the Faculty of Graduate Studies.

Prof. Hemanthi Ranasinghe, Professor in Forestry and Environmental Sciences and Dean/Faculty of Graduate Studies, University of Sri Jayewardenepura participating in the seminar, conducted her lecture on ‘Wetland restoration projects in Sri Lanka’.

James Woodhouse, Chair, School of Environmental Sciences, Lakeland College and Faculty members of the School of Environmental Sciences, Lakeland College including Cassandra Specht, Massoud Shafieifar conducted lectures on various topics related to Environment Management as well as Students of the School of Environmental Sciences, Lakeland College actively participated in the seminar sharing their experience in environmental management projects at the Lakeland College.

Academic members of the Department of Forestry & Environmental Science of USJP including Dr Prasanthi Gunawardene, Head of the Department, Dr Thilak Chandrathilake, Senior Lecturer, conducted lectures on Environmental Management related topics. Additionally several academic members and undergraduates of the Department of the Forestry and Environmental Science and Faculty of Graduate Studies participated in the collaborative seminar programme.
