Vacancies – Department of Community Medicine, SHINES Research Program

The “SHINES” project (Strengthening Health research by Improving Non-communicable disease Epidemiology in Srilanka Study ) is a collaborative research study between the Public Health and Primary Care in University of Cambridge, UK and the Department of Community Medicine, Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura.  The project activities are planning to start in September 2018, initially for one year and extendable for three years.

We are seeking suitable candidates for following vacancies to work for this Project in the Department of Community Medicine, Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Sri Jayawardenepura.

Manager: (01Post)

Degree in Management, Commerce or equivalent from a recognized university with not less than 10 years’ experience at senior management level in a development project funded by an international Donor agency. (Preferably in the field of Health and Nutrition)

  • Strong qualitative research skills and experience in managing field-based research and analysis
  • Excellent communication, writing skills and fluency in English and Sinhalese is essential
  • Ability to do overall management of the study
  • Committed to working at least one year in the project

Salary scale – Rs. 75,000 (fixed per month)

Scientific Coordinator (01 Post) –  (TOR)

Qualifications:

  • Education: Should have a MBBS from a Medical Institute, which is recognized by Sri Lanka Medical Council.

Having a Bachelor’s degree in the relevant scientific field (Bio-Science / Applied Science / Medical Science / Public health) is an advantage.

  • Knowledge of general principles of good clinical/research practice
  • Minimum 02 years’ experience in a community-based research project or in the related sector

Monthly Salary (all inclusive)  – Rs. 120,000/-

Phlebotomist / Nurse (02 Posts)

Qualifications: Nursing Degree / Diploma from a recognized Nurses Training School with minimum 02-year experience working in a recognized hospital (government or private)

Salary: 50,000/- (fixed per month)

Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)  (01 Post)

Qualifications: Diploma / Advance certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology or Microbiology from a recognized University / School with minimum 02-years experience in the relevant field

Salary: 45,000/- (fixed per month)

Field Research Assistant (02 Posts)

Qualifications: Pass G.C.E. (A/L) in any subject areas, preferred field level working experience on Health Research Project conducted by a recognized institution (government / NGO/INGO / Private)

Computer knowledge is added qualification
Salary: 20,000/- (fixed per month)

Office Assistant (02 Posts)

Qualifications: Pass G.C.E. (O/L) with a Credit pass for English Language preferred completion of A/L in any subject area

Salary: 25,000/- (fixed per month)

Interviewer (06 Posts)

Qualifications: Pass G.C.E. (O/L) with a Credit pass for English Language and Science, preferred completion of A/L in any subject area

  • Working knowledge of English and Sinhala
  • Computer knowledge is added qualification

Salary: 25,000/- (fixed per month)

Communication Assistant (01 Post)

Qualifications: Pass G.C.E. (O/L) with a Credit pass for English language and complete G.C.E. (A/L)  in any subject area and  able to speak well and communicate at least in 2 languages

  • Able to communicate in all 3 languages is added qualification

Salary: 25,000/- (fixed per month)

All appointments will be on contract basis initially for a period of one year (from the month of September 2018) and would be extendable up to a maximum of 03 years subject to satisfactory performance appraisal.
