MOU between Hettigoda Industries and USJP

Plant Materials and Herbal Products Research Center of the University of Sri Jayewardnepura signed MOU with the Hettigoda Industries PVT LTD, Sri Lanka on 21st May 2018 at the Boardroom of the Administration Building.

The event was graced by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Prof. Sampath Amaratunge. Also Deshabandu Victor Hettigoda, Chairman of the Hettigoda Industries, Prof. Pathmalal, Co-Chair, Research Council, Head, the Department of Zoology, Dr. M. G. C. Padumadasa, Director of the Plant Materials and Herbal Products Research Centre, Prof. Sudantha Liyanage, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences, Prof. D. P. S. Chandrakumara, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Dr. Anura U Kumara, Dean of the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce and many academic members representing various departments of the university participated in the event.

The University together with Hettigoda Industries will pursue collaboration on Fundamental academic research related to Plant Materials, Ayurvedic and Herbal formula which are within the areas of mutual interest.

The collaboration includes developing scientific activities by conducting joint research, creating and cooperating in the facilitations of Publication of research. It was also agreed on that each party would share equipment and personnel for the development of research and other projects.

The main purpose of this collaboration is to conduct plant based research. The University is currently conducting many researches to develop the plant based medicine industry in Sri Lanka. This collaboration will no doubt aid to develop the plant based research in the country.
