Certificate in Library and Information Sciences

Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of USJ offers a 2-semester certificate course for 1st year undergrads of Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Library and Information Sciences. This course will be taught in English/Sinhala in collaboration with the Library of the University. The academic staff of the library is capable of completing this course successfully.

Online courses will be conducted using Zoom and CDEPD LMS. Once you successfully register to the course, LMS credentials will be sent to your registered email address.

Describe the basic knowledge in Library & Information Sciences
Identify the formal practices in the Library & Information Sciences profession
Define information sources and services in a library
Classify and maintain library collections according to the standard systems
Organize a small and medium-sized library

Why this course
Develop fundamental knowledge and skills in Library and Information Sciences in order to organize and manage small to medium-sized libraries.

Who this course is for
This courses targets individuals who are willing to obtain knowledge in Library and Information Sciences. Specially for First Year Undergraduates of Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of USJ.

Eligibility

Internal FHSS Students : First Year Undergraduates of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences are eligible.

Selection Criteria
Internal FHSS Students: All the registered undergraduates of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences will directly get chance to follow the Certificate Course.
