The 106th memorial commemorating the forefather of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura: Thripitaka Vaagishwaracharya, Mahopadhyaya Pandithashiromani most venerable reverend Hikkaduwe Sri Sumangala Thero, was held on the 2nd May 2017 at the vicinity of the shrine room of the university.
Ven. Prof. Medagoda Abhayatissa thero from the Department of Pali and Buddhist Studies shared the memorial message at this ceremony which was graced by Prof. Sampath Amaratunge, Vice Chancellor of the University and many others representing both the academia and the student community of the university.
Parallel to this ceremony the Ven. Prof. Magammana Paññananda unveiled the name board of the main library (Ven.Dr.Medagoda Sumanathissa Thero Memorial Library)
