Medical Under-graduates train in underprivileged areas on community based learning

Community Based Medical Learning (CBML) programme

cbml-2015 Medical faculty doctor communityCommunity Based Medical Learning (CBML) programme of the Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura (USJP) focuses on student training in a rural setting to empower the medical graduates to work in these underprivileged areas with minimal resources and to provide quality health care to the rural communities. It is also aimed at developing a favourable attitude among students on patient care, social justice, ethics, cultural, and social harmony and gender equity. It will also provide the opportunity for students to learn rural health care provision (primary care setup), the life style of people, their practices and their limited social and financial resources and the lack of basic amenities.

CBML programme for the year 2015 was held as one week residential programme in Kalutara district from 19th to 26th July.
