The first ever international award for music was given to Sri Lanka at the Buddhist International Film Festival organized by the United Nations in Vietnam in 2014. Pradeep Ratnayake, Head, Department of Languages, Cultural Studies and Performing Arts was awarded the Best Music Director award for his music from the film Siddhartha Gouthama.
