Prof. Y. K. Weerakoon Banda received the “SUSRED Award” for his Ph.D. Supervision

Prof. Y. K. Weerakoon Banda has received the SUSRED Award at the NSF Awards Ceremony held on 16th November 2021 at the BMICH. SUSRED (Support Scheme for Supervision of Research Degrees) is a NSF (National Science Foundation) award given to supervisors of postgraduate research degrees and to the Departments/Divisions/Units of institutions that support postgraduate research in Sri Lanka, in recognition of the service to the nation.

Prof. Weerakoon received the award for the Ph.D. supervision in the research area of Dividend Policy and its impact on the Stock Price Volatility by Dr. Dewasiri N. Jayantha with the co-supervision of Prof. Azeez, A. A. (University of Colombo). The study was carried out at the University of Colombo during the 2014-2017 period. The recognition was for the higher research degrees completed between the 2017-2018 period, and he was the only winner who represented the Management and Commerce discipline in Sri Lanka.

Prof. Weerakoon made an outstanding contribution from the commencement of the Department of Finance of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. He is currently serving as the Research Coordinator of the Ph.D. in Management Programme offered by the Faculty of Graduate Studies in collaboration with the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce.
