Vidyodaya Undergraduate Research Day 2023 was successfully held on 22nd February 2023 at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura under the theme “Exploring Undergraduates’ Potential for a Sustainable Future”. The conference focused on uplifting the skills of the undergraduates and providing an exposure to ascertain and share novel knowledge through research related to the fields of Humanities and Social Sciences.
A total of 257 students presented their abstracts under seven tracks, including Crime, Society and Human Behaviour, History, Archaeology and Geography, IT, GIS and Statistics, Language, Literature and Communication, Philosophy and Psychology, Politics and Economy, and Religion, Culture and Aesthetics.
Out of the 257 presentations, 21 abstracts were chosen as the best, and the students were presented with certificates at the certificate awarding ceremony by Prof. Upul Subasinghe, the Acting Vice-Chancellor of USJ.
The conference was led by Prof. Shirantha Heenkenda, the Dean of FHSS, as the Conference Advisor. Dr. Oshan Wedage, from the Department of History and Archaeology, FHSS, served as the Conference Chair, while Dr. (Mrs.) Niluka Priyadarshani, from the Department of Political Science, FHSS, served as the Conference Secretary.
