පසුගිය දිනවල ශ්රී ලංකාව තුල ඇතිවූ දැඩි සුළං තත්වය නිසා ශ්රී ජයවර්ධනපුර විශ්වවිද්යාලයට හානි සිදු වූ අතර තත්වය හැකි ඉක්මනින් සමනය කිරීම සදහා විශ්විද්යාලීය නඩත්තු අංශය යුහුසුළුව ක්රියාත්මක විය. එහිදී ක්රියාත්මක වූ විශ්විද්යාලීය නඩත්තු අංශයේ කාර්ය මණ්ඩලය ඇගයීමේ උත්සවයක් 2017 දෙසැම්බර් මස 20 වැනිදා ශ්රී ජයවර්ධනපුර විශ්වවිද්යාලයේ උපකුලපති මහාචාර්ය සම්පත් අමරතුංග මහතාගේ ප්රධානත්වයෙන් පැවැත්විය.
It was not long ago when a Mini Cyclone struck Sri Lanka devastating many lives. University of Sri Jayewardenepura too was affected. However, the University Maintenance Division made sure that these effects were amended soon. They worked tirelessly to bring The University back to its working order in a matter of hours.
Prof. Sampath Ameratunge, Vice Chancellor of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura was deeply gratified by their commitment and efficiency. A celebration was organized in honor of the laborers of the Maintenance division on the 20th December 2017.
Prof. Sampath Amaratunge praised the laborers commitment and a letter of appreciation was issued to all those who worked tirelessly during the occasion. Mr. Wasantha Perera, the Registrar of the university was also present at the event.
