FAS Training Session on Examinations and Mental Health of Students for the Young Academics

The Faculty of Applied Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura started conducting training sessions on the skills development of its academic members. The Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences, Prof Upul Subasinghe organized the first event in person on the 13th of October 2022 “Understanding Students before Examinations” at the Faculty of Applied Sciences. Over 40 young academic members of the faculty actively participated in this half a day event.

The Professional Student Counselors, Ms. Rasika Manohari and Mr. Ishan Edirisuriya conducted speeches on the Mental and Physical Health of Students, followed by the training given by Prof Sarath Banneheke, Department of Statistics, Faculty of Applied Science, USJ on Examination Paper Setting and Moderation.

Beyond the targeted goals of this event, the participants were even provided insight into the various issues faced by students in crisis situations, which could be helpful in setting future academic activities of the faculty.
