As a national service to preserve local knowledge, Palm Leaf Manuscript Preservation and Conservation Unit was opened at the Library of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura on 07th of March 2019 by the chief guest Prof. Sampath Amarathunge, vice-chancellor of the University.
Concurrently an appreciation ceremony for Palm Leaf Manuscript donors was also held and awarded them with appreciation sheets by the vice chancellor; Prof. Sampath Amaratunge. Donators and their family members, University academic and non-academic staff members participated in the ceremony.
