The 16th International Conference on Pali and Buddhist Studies organized by the Department of Pali and Buddhist Studies of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura was held on 28th February 2023 at the Sumangala Auditorium.
The Keynote Speaker of the conference was Ven. Associate Prof. Rangama Chandawimala Thero of the Buddhist College of Singapore. The event was also graced by Ven. Dr. Pannila Ananda Nayaka Thero, Abbot, Aththanagalla Rajamaha Viharaya, Aththanagalla, Houston Buddhist Vihara in USA, Theravada Buddhist Vihara in Taiwan, and Secretary of Dharma Vijaya Buddhis Vihara in Los Angeles, USA as the Guest of Honour.
Professor Shirantha Heenkenda, the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Ven. Professor Elamaldeniye Sarananda Thero, Head of the Department of Pali and Buddhist Studies and other academic members of Department of Pali and Buddhist Studies, academic and non-academic members staff of the University, students and other distinguished guests also participated in this event.
This year’s Conference was organized under the leadership of Ven. Senior Lecturer Kudakathnoruwe Vineetha Thero as the Conference Chair and Ven. Dr. Witharandeniye Chandasiri Thero as the Conference Secretary.
