The Nexus: the IRCHSS-2016 on Blogosphere
The first official blog –The Nexus: the IRCHSS-2016 on Blogosphere-of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (FHSS) of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura is launched on 16 February 2016, in parallel to the International Research Conference on Humanities and Social Sciences 2016 (IRCHSS-2016).
Initiated in 2012 and organised annually by the FHSS, the IRCHSS is a research forum – interdisciplinary in method and internationalist in spirit – for the comparative treatment of ideas, issues and problems related to Humanities and Social Sciences. The IRCHSS-2016 continues to create an interdisciplinary dialogue across the academics from Humanities and Social Sciences, by drawing together diverse viewpoints for discriminating new ideas and supporting emerging perspectives. The theme of the IRCHSS-2016 is “Transformation for Empowerment: Moving beyond Buzzwords”.Parallel to the main events, the IRCHSS-2016 aims to engage new publics in dialogue and to influence public policy.
Hence, the IRCHSS-2016 has just launched itsregularly updated website – the Nexus -written in a less formal or conversational style. It is an online platform which serves as an inspirational ground for future presentations, a way to reflect on academic-related involvements including conference experiences, and as a means of getting feedback on on-going research. The Nexus also functions as a means to minimise the gap between the formal and the informal; the academic and the professionals, a researches and policies and theories and praxis.
