University of Sri Jayewardenepura Clinches the Gold Award in Best Annual Reports and Accounts Competition

 

The University of Sri Jayewardenepura proudly secured the prestigious Gold Award in the Best Annual Reports and Accounts competition organized by the Association of Public Finance Accountants of Sri Lanka (APFASL), the Public Sector Wing of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka. This remarkable achievement is particularly noteworthy as it marks the first time the University Category has clinched the overall Gold Award in the Central Government category.

Competing among the Statutory Boards including Universities, the University of Sri Jayewardenepura emerged as the Gold Award winner for the Best Annual Reports and Accounts. The University also secured the overall Gold Award in the Central Government category.

This esteemed competition, initiated in 2016, is consecutively conducted by the APFASL witnessing active participation with 234 entries this time. The University’s success in clinching the overall award at the 8th Annual Award Ceremony has marked a huge milestone in the University history.

Over the years, the University of Sri Jayewardenepura has consistently demonstrated its financial reporting and accounting success in the Best Annual Reports and Accounts competition. Previous awards include winning the University Category in 2017 securing the 2nd Runner-up, overall award in 2018, and achieving the Silver Awards in the University Category in 2019 and 2020.

The theme presented by the University in this time competition was “Adapting and Innovating: Navigating Change in Education,” reflecting its resilience to addressing contemporary challenges in the education sector.

Expressing gratitude, the University acknowledges the unwavering support and contribution of the entire university community in gaining this remarkable achievement. The recognition received in the Best Annual Reports and Accounts Awards highlights the University of Sri Jayewardenepura’s efforts to enable transparency, accountability and excellence in financial reporting.
