USJ’s Faculty of Computing Inaugurates Bachelor of Computing Honours Degree Programs

Marking yet another momentous occasion in history, the newly established Faculty of Computing, USJ is fully equipped to commence its academic endeavors with the inaugural intakes for Bachelor of Computing Honours degree programs in Computer Science, Software Engineering and Information Systems.

The inauguration ceremony is scheduled to take place on the 12th of June, 2023 at the Senate Board Room from 9.a.m. onwards, signifying a truly momentous occasion in the history of USJ. The event will be graced by the distinguished Chief Guest, Senior Professor Sampath Amaratunge, the Chairman of the University Grants Commission, and the esteemed guests, Prof. Upul Subasinghe, the Acting Vice Chancellor of USJ, Senior Prof. Sudantha Liyanage, former Vice Chancellor of USJ, Prof. Prasad M. Jayaweera, the Acting Dean of Faculty of Computing, and Mr. A.B. Welivita, the Registrar of USJ.

Furthermore, Prof. Saman K. Halgamuge of the University of Melbourne, an eminent academic and a leading senior researcher in AI and Machine Learning, and Mr. Ashique M Ali, the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Association for Software and Services Companies (SLASSCOM), representing the local IT/BPM sector, will also dignify the inauguration ceremony.

In total, 150 undergraduates who have obtained higher Z scores from the G.C.E. (A/L) examinations are set to commence their academic activities in three distinct study programs, leading to Bachelor of Computing Honours Degrees offered by the Faculty of Computing, USJ.
