The webteam of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura has launched Research @ Jayewardenepura website (http://research.sjp.ac.lk), providing a platform for all research personalities of the university to showcase and share their research.

Research at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura is a topic that has been brought under the lime light during the recent past. In order to lay further emphasis on this matter, the university appointed a research council spearheaded by the Vice Chancellor of the university Prof. Sampath Amaratunge and many other eminent research personalities with the aim of encouraging and promoting the need for research that is believed to contribute significantly to national development through establishing and expanding research centers which would target resolving nationally important issues. Accordingly, the following centers have already been set in motion; Centre for Dengue Research, Center for Water Quality and Algea Research, Center for Kidney Research, Center for Advanced Material Research, Center for Cancer Research and the Center for Management Studies and Commerce.

Research Grants

The University has taken the initiative to further provide research grants to kindle the urgency of its academics to execute original research in their respective fields of study contributing to the enhancement of knowledge of the subject field. Proposals involving applied research will be given preference while applications for grants for proposals involving basic research will be considered under special circumstances on their own merits subject to availability of funds.

Research Awards

An award scheme has been emplaced by the research council to further motivate its permanent staff members engaging them and thus securing their enthusiasm to a greater extent. Certificates and cash awards will be presented based on following eight categories according to the Guidelines indicated in the scheme.
