ජපන් විද්‍යා හා තාක්ෂණ කාර්යංශයේ නියෝජිත යුජි නිශිකාවා මහතා 2017 නොවැම්බර් මස 29 වැනිදා ශ්‍රී ජයවර්ධනපුර විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ උපකුලපති මහාචාර්ය සම්පත් අමරතුංග මහතා සහ ශ්‍රී ජයවර්ධනපුර විශ්ව විද්‍යාලයේ ලෝක මට්ටමේ විශ්වවිද්‍යාල ව්‍යාපෘතියේ අධ්‍යක්ෂක මහාචාර්ය රනිල් ද සිල්වා මහතා හමුවිය.

Mr. Yuji Nishikawa Representative of Japan Science and Technology Agency meets Vice Chancellor

Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) is a research funding arm of Ministry of Education, Science & Technology (MEXT), and works closely with universities/ research institutes in and outside Japan.

Visit of Mr. Yuji NISHIKAWA, India Liaison Representative of JST, to University of Sri Jayewardenepura (USJP) was to search for future possibility of promoting joint research activities with JST paving way for postgraduate opportunities with Japan.

This unique achievement will provide an opening towards exchange of students, faculty members and researchers with the objective of realizing research projects and joint publications.

A meeting was arranged with the Vice Chancellor of the USJP, Prof. Sampath Amaratunge and Prof. Ranil de Silva, Director of the World Class University Project, USJP on the 29th November 2017.

As a fruitful effort of this meeting in the near future, following student exchange opportunities will be available in collaboration with USJP,

· Sakura Science exchange program in science – To materialize a bright future of Asia and to enhance the exchange of youth in Asian countries and Japan who will play a crucial role in S&T.
· The e-ASIA joint research program – To develop a vibrant and collaborative research community in S&T, to promote innovation, to resolve shared challenges in East Asia and contribute to the region’s economic development.
· Science and Technology Research Partnership for Sustainable Development (SATREPS) – To strengthen S&T cooperation with developing countries for resolving the global issues.
