International Hindi Day was celebrated on 10th January 2017 at Sumangala Reading Hall, organised by the Department of Languages and Performing Art of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. Prof. Sampath Amaratunge, Vice Chancellor of the University, Dr. D. P. S. Chandrakumara, Dean, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and prominent Hindi Academics from India participated to the event which was brighten up by Sinhala and Hindi traditional events. Following traditional events Seminar on Hindi Culture and Tradition was taken place in order to provide  knowledge to students who are following Hindi as their subject unit in the Department.
