The Department of Languages, Cultural Studies and Performing Arts organized a seminar and workshop on Hindi language studies titled “Sri Lanka Mei Hindi Ki Dasha Evam Disha” on the 29th December. The event took place at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Board room. A number of Indian academics participated at the seminar as well as staff and students from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura.
The Indian delegation were welcomed by Vice Chancellor Prof.Sampath Amaratunge. Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Mr.Lasantha Nawaratne, and other staff were also present. The event featured cultural items from both Sri Lanka and India highlighting the rich cultures of both countries. The seminar and workshop is expected to create more gateways to Hindi language studies in Sri Lanka, as it is already a popular language among local masses.
